Ensuring the Availability and Performance of On-demand Content
With the exception of sports and some news, studies show that consumers want to watch what they want, when they want it—and that means on-demand services. Ensuring the quality and availability of the on-demand service is increasingly important for keeping the customer’s quality of experience high.
To test on-demand content, the RPM’s scripting module is used to key in the playout of on-demand content. This script is then incorporated as a service in the overall RPM service lineup and checked periodically for availability and quality. Operators may configure the RPM to play out free on-demand content to ensure the availability of the infrastructure, or the RPM may be set up to play specific high-demand titles to monitor for system congestion or content availability.
Regardless, by combining on-demand verification with the linear lineup verification, the operator can deploy one tool to ensure all available services.
