Continuous Monitoring of Local Content at Ingest into Network
Many operators are challenged by sometimes-unreliable feeds from local broadcasters – over the air or fiber-fed. Because the local feeds are examined by few other locations, and because the stations are going through their own transitions, these are typically the feeds with the greatest frequency of problems.
The Observer (SDI) and Observer RPM (post STB) systems can be configured to continuously record and monitor the ingest feeds into the network, examining content for video impairments, audio levels, captioning or teletext presence. This way, the operator can be notified if there are problems with the incoming feeds and get them quickly addressed by the broadcaster while not tying up precious support center manpower.
