The focus this year at IBC is on our latest release, v4.5, which includes many improvements requested by our customers. In addition, Volicon will be showing off our newest products, the Observer HD and Observer RPM.
Observer HD
As more and more broadcasts switch to HD worldwide, demand for a native HD monitoring and logging solution has grown. The new Observer HD brings all of the simplicity and power of the standard-definition Observer, with the addition of support for native HD ingest via HD-SDI in the standard 16:9 aspect ratio. Available in two- or four-channel models, with 30 days of storage or longer, the Observer-HD has been tailored to accept and ingest embedded audio including Dolby® 5.1 sound. Broadcasters can record, store, search, retrieve, and view HD-sourced material, in real time, from multiple broadcast sources and from any desktop within the broadcast facility. Backed by a carrier-grade hardware platform, the Observer-HD is a reliable and versatile tool with many applications.
Observer RPM
Volicon’s solution for the cable, MSO, satellite, and IPTV markets, the Observer RPM automatically perfoms QoS signal analysis at NOC/headend or remote hubsites. Sampling video from each channel in your lineup, the RPM controls set-top boxes and proactively alerts you to issues, helping you to respond to problems before customers complain.
JDSU Partnership
Volicon is announcing a strategic partnership with JDSU for the Observer RPM. Designed for the cable/MSO/IPTV/satellite industry, the Observer RPM is the perfect complement to JDSU’s full line of signal metrics and analysis tools. Together, Volicon and JDSU can offer a true end-to-end monitoring solution in both the digital and analog realms, with attached video affadavits of faults.
Central Monitoring
Also being announced at IBC is Volicon’s new Central Monitoring Server. Created in response to demand from broadcasters and multi-station operators, the central monitoring server allows users to aggregate monitored content from multiple Observers situated at remote locations. Customers needing to centrally monitor many remote locations can view and control multiple Observers from the NOC, headend, or any other central location.
