Volicon Observer®
As the industry standard for video monitoring and logging, the Volicon Observer® captures, stores, and indexes broadcast content from multiple channels, offering users simultaneous, 24x7 access to video from their desktop computers. The Observer brings new levels of efficiency to critical broadcasting tasks including monitoring and troubleshooting transmissions, ensuring compliance, verifying advertising broadcasts, and tracking and analyzing viewer ratings and public relations information.
At the Telemundo show, Volicon will showcase a significant expansion of the Observer product family that addresses the full range of broadcast workflows and budgets. Newly developed capabilities include a streamlined user interface supporting both the Windows® and Mac® operating systems, including support for Internet Explorer®, Safari®, and Firefox® browsers, as well as integrated export functionality to H.264, Flash, or MPEG-4. In addition, several enhancements have been made to the search engine and scheduled recording module.

Observer® Professional
Designed specifically for budget-conscious television stations and organizations that require simplified workflows for media monitoring, the Observer® Professional includes an intuitive, streamlined user interface for both Mac® and PC platforms and features that enable quick and easy scheduling, recording, and enhanced searching with auto-complete technology on key media mentions in the video stream. The optional Electronic Programming Guide (EPG)-based Scheduled Recording Module enables scheduled, selective recording of specific broadcast channels within designated time periods. The Observer Professional supports one to four channel inputs and up to five concurrent users, and it offers up to 90 days of storage for archived video.

Observer® Enterprise
The Observer® Enterprise is a fully redundant, enterprise-grade, 24x7 automated record and search appliance targeted to broadcasting networks for media monitoring and compliance workflows. The Observer Enterprise solution offers a range of intuitive features designed to automate manual monitoring tasks that save valuable time and resources. Users can choose between the streamlined or enterprise-level user interface, and the system offers enhanced search capabilities that include new auto-complete technology to help find closed-caption text even faster than before. The Observer Enterprise includes integrated Nielsen Ratings for side-by-side competitive analysis based on viewership, and it also supports Volicon’s optional Content Matching and Producer Modules for audio fingerprinting and content repurposing workflows. The system supports monitoring of unlimited channels and unlimited user access, and it features inputs for analog, SDI, and HD-SDI sources and up to two years of storage.
Observer® Enterprise Plus
The Observer® Enterprise Plus builds upon the robust functionality of the Observer Enterprise solution to support high-resolution editorial workflows in large production facilities. The system includes a unique capture card that enables dual encoding of full-frame HD (1280x720, 6-9 Mbps) and a corresponding low-resolution SD proxy (320x240, 384-512 kbps) for efficient network bandwidth browse editing and high-resolution conformance. The Observer Enterprise Plus provides a fully integrated, automated transcoding engine that converts Observer-based broadcast content to more than 40 codecs and containers for industry-standard nonlinear editing systems, websites, video servers, and mobile applications. The system offers multi-bit rate encoding from a single input, and it includes inputs for analog, SDI, and HD-SDI sources, plus composite and component I/O for RF inputs into a wide range of supported set-top boxes.
Observer® RPM
The Observer® RPM (Remote Program Monitor) provides quality-of-experience monitoring for IPTV, MSOs, independent cable operators, and satellite operators that need to evaluate NOC/headend and remote hubsite broadcasts automatically from a central location. The Observer RPM is a post-set-top box solution that scans hundreds of channels around the clock and automatically tests signal integrity, issues alerts (via e-mail and SNMP), and captures the problematic content when channels do not conform to prespecified limits.
